Folgt man der Interpretation der biblischen Jakobgeschichte, es handle sich bei dem Kampf mit dem Engel um ein Ringen mit sich selbst, so ist hier der Schauplatz ein sehr kleines Quadrat durch eine schmale Treppe erreichbar, umgeben vom Abgrund.An den vier Ecken sind Köpfe, welche die Grundcharaktere aus der 4 Säftelehre des Hippokrates repräsentieren: der Phlegmatiker,der Choleriker, der Sanguiniker und der Melancholiker. Ein Kämpfer ist im Ringen begriffen und kommt nicht dazu, seine mitgebrachte Waffe einzusetzen, der Köcher mit den Pfeilen ist heruntergerissen. Rechts sieht man seinen Vorgänger noch in den Abgrund stürzen während von links neue Kämpfer nachrücken, sich dem Kampf mit ihrem Inneren zu stellen.

If one follows the interpretation of the biblical story of Jacob that the fight with the angel is a wrestling with oneself, then the scene here is a very small square accessible through a narrow staircase, surrounded by the abyss. At the four corners are heads that represent the basic characters from Hippocrates’ theory of the 4 humours: the phlegmatic, the choleric, the sanguine and the melancholic. A fighter is wrestling and does not get to use the weapon he brought with him, the quiver with the arrows is torn down. On the right, one can see his predecessor plunging into the abyss, while new fighters are coming from the left to face the battle with their inner selves.

The angel from the Jacob series becomes a rose cavalier who hands a flower to an interchangeable beauty – she does not even bother to turn around to look at him. From the right, however, a woman, grey with envy, looks into the picture. The landscape seems eschatological, with its yellow sky reminiscent of the catastrophic forest fires that bathed Los Angeles in an unreal light some time ago, or of Bladerunner 2023. Aeroplanes spray poison, on the wings is written Ba and Al, barium and aluminium, but together they can also be read as Baal, an ancient god to whom human sacrifices are also made. Chinese characters can be seen in the city. On the bottom left ” there will be much salt”(= it will be tearful), on the bottom right a lettering advertises “brain digitisation”.
